Scot or Scottish?

I understand that the people of Scotland are very particular about the use of Scot versus Scottish.

Would I say, for example:

...your stubborn Scot defiance

or would I say

....your stubborn Scottish defiance

When speaking to the subject, you could say 'your stubborn Scottish defiance', using the plural 'Scottish' and 'defiance'.

This implies All Scots are typically Defiant, but it missed out, but infers, the word 'typically' between 'your' and 'stubborn'.

You could also say 'stubborn defiant Scot', using the singular.

This would refer to the person and not the nation.

Just how do we ever learn the English language ?

"Galoot" is an old word used, primarily in Scotland, that means a person with an ungainly, cumbersome, and clumsy personality.
